Random #3

I'm currently in the process of making Cinnamon Raisin Bread! I'll be back with that post as soon as finishes rising and baking up in the oven! Meanwhile, I just wanted to share with you guys some of the foods I've made or I've been eating or the things my mom cooked in the past few weeks :)

Hachiya persimmons grew in my backyard! These are the worst fruits if they're not ripe - they're super bitter and leave a funky feeling in your mouth. Astringent much? :( If they're ripe however, they're really sweet and good! You should try freezing them too!

A simple curry and rice.

Spaghetti.

Dduk gook. It's pretty much beef broth with rice cakes and different seasonings. It's commonly eaten on New Year's Day and it's good with dried laver sprinkled on top.

Chicken cutlets on a bed of greens made for my brother :)

Tous les jours bread! Tous les jours is pretty much a Korean bread franchise from Korea and there's a branch in my neighborhood so of course, I have to buy some!

And lastly, kimchi burger made from my mom!

hi michelle! the kimchi burger looks yummy, but is it pure kimchi and binders? no meat at all? btw, try making persimmon galette. i started avoiding the fruit when i found out it is not healthy because of the cholesterol content but i tried it one time in a galette and it's yummy. oh well, it is when crunchy, don't like them too soft and mushy. anyway, my cousins loved it.

Hi Faye! :) The kimchi burger has different seasonings, kimchi (that's been squeezed of juices), tofu bits, and pork...it somewhat resembles the filling for Korean dumplings. Persimmon galette! Your pictures looked really good! I think I should give them a try...I love persimmons and I prefer the fuyu persimmons over the hachiya cause I like them crunchy better than mushy~ haha :)

oh, ok... I think I'll try making it as soon as I get some kimchi. I haven't been to a Korean market lately and I'm out. Incidentally, I am making Food For The Gods today and I want to send you some as my holiday gift. The recipe is from my cousin who makes killer FFTG. I don't know if you've tasted that . It's like fruit cake minus the dried fruits. I am so excited cuz it's the first time I'm making it.
